Ice Skates And Other Cruelties features smooth moves on sharp glass, sharp moves on smooth glass. A chiseled body that slices the ice, and hopefully carved ice that won’t slice the body. In other words, brutal poetry and gorgeous cruelty are exposed.
Camille explores the political power of imagination through the use of glass and her own body. The piece is a choreography, drawing the lines of an ever-changing landscape where something cruel can find its poetry and something beautiful can reveal its violence in a heartbeat. This moving landscape creates a space, may it be literal or figurative, that triggers collective imagination.
With this show, Camille is shortlisted for CircusNext 2020 - 2021, which is a European circus label: the creators selected by a European jury stand out for their singularity and creativity.
